MOUNT SUGARLOAF

Meet at 9am
Mount Sugarloaf is situated approximately 1 hour from Geelong with in the Lerderderg State Park. We will start our 11km walk from the end of Antimony Mine Road . Up we go, as we head up a dirt road and wind our way up steep inclines all the 4km up to the top of Mount Sugarloaf for some lovely views and a photo or 2. Here we will stop and catch our breath before we start our descent through the State Park down the side of the mountain. Under the canopy of some very large trees we will weave our way down to the Forrest floor as we look for kangaroos.
Following a number of different tracks we will eventually find our way out of the maze of mountain bike and hiking trails as we make our way back to the car.
PLEASE NOTE: There is no toilet on this hike
We will meet at Merrimu Reservoir at 9am. Toilets available here and then we will drive to start of hike.

What to bring:
- Drinking water
- Rain coat/jacket (if required)
- Small backpack to carry everything in
Can be very cold here so you may need to layer up.
Location:
We will meet at Merrimu Reservoir Picnic Area, Coimadai (not far from Bacchus Marsh) at 9am and use the bathroom facilities. We will then head to the start of the hike. No toilets on hike.
Weather:
This walk should be able to proceed in most weather conditions. However, if severe weather warning forecast this walk will need to be postponed.
ADVENTURE RATING:
YELLOW Traffic light - A slightly more challenging hike. This walk has an incline of approximately 4km to the top of Mount Sugarloaf. This could be challenging for some hikers. You will walk over dirt tracks, gravel roads, rocks and uneven ground. Remember only you can decide if this adventure is right for you.
