3 Falls Hike

Date:  Sunday 22nd June

Time:  9:15am (Please arrive by 9:00am)

Starting from the Allenvale Mill car park we set off on an 8km scenic route in the foothills of Lorne to explore a series of waterfalls.  Following the St George River along a dense eucalypt forest we arrive at our first waterfall,Phantom Falls.  After a short stop we then continue on up some pretty steep hills before we reach the beautiful rocky passage  The Canyon.  This moss covered rocky section with beautiful ferns is stunning and a highlight of the walk.  We then take a side trip to Henderson Falls a lovely cascading waterfall before finally reaching our final  waterfall Won Wondah.  Unfortunately, this waterfall is obscured by overgrown brush.  We will then exit the bush and walk the final km down the dirt road back to the carpark where we will enjoy a delicious lunch.

** This track can be very muddy after rain.  If you have hiking shoes you may wish to wear them.

What to bring:

- At least 2 litres of drinking water (no drinking water available)

- Comfortable walking shoes (Hiking shoes if you have them)

- Sunscreen

-Hat/Beanie

-Rain coat/jacket (if required)

- Small backpack to carry everything in

Location:

Please meet at Allenvale Mill Carpark, Allenvale Rd Lorne.

There are NO TOILETS on this hike.  You may wish to stop at the visitor centre in Lorne on your way through.  Otherwise, there is a toilet at Sheoak Falls carpark which is further down the dirt road from the start of this hike.

Weather:

This hike is safe to complete in all types of weather and will only be cancelled if a severe weather warning is forecast.

This walk is rated yellow.

This is a lovely scenic hike with some steep hills .  You will be walking on  uneven tracks and rocky ground.  It can be slippery in places, especially after rain, and care should be taken.   The distance is approximately 8km and can take anywhere from 2.5 to 3 hours to complete.  This rating is a guide and only you can decide if this Adventure is suitable for you.
